Can somebody explain the golden gloves tournament to me, how it is set up, who can enter, and how a fighter would go about getting in it.

Thanks for your time!

There are different ages, weights obviously, and experience levels.. Intermediate, senior, novice, open. You can enter with a registered club ( gym ) or unattached from one. You must first register with USA boxing. Then you can compete. Do a search on USAboxing.org for more info and head officials in your area who can help get you started.

Go to boxinggyms.com to find a local gym in your area.

Hope this helps!

I'm already training at a registered gym. I just started with them last week and my coach is already talking about preparing for the Golden Gloves which starts March 7th here in Pennsylvania. I just wanted some more information on the tourney.

thanks

You will box in the novice division. Novice is with boxers with less than 10 fights... When you register for the tourney they draw names to set up the bracket to determine who you fight. If a lot of fighters register this year you may fight back to back days. If not, a bye could happen. Again, depending on how many register you could box 2-3 days in a row.

You will box three two minute rounds.

It's a great tournament to box in and I boxed in eight of them.

Best of luck to you...
